Lose Weight and Feel Great!

The startling reality is that American obesity rates are skyrocketing-and with obesity comes health problems. Diabetes, strokes, heart issues, knee problems and bad backs are all caused by obesity-and can be cured as well by weight loss. (Here’s a simple workout for your bad back.) This is not surprising as the food industry has gotten us hooked on both large portions, and unhealthy, corn syrup and hydrogenated fat-laden garbage. Because of this, weight loss is very, very important and everyone is looking for weight loss tips. Not only is the extra weight unhealthy, but it also is unattractive and causes a lack of energy as well. Whether you’re looking for weight loss tips for health or cosmetic reasons, losing weight will not just help you to look better, it can extend your lifespan and increase your quality of life. But how do you go about losing weight if you’re busy with your daily routine? Most of us don’t have time, or even the willpower, to get to the gym or get out for a jog. These things definitely help but there are others ways to drop those unwanted pounds without investing the extra effort.

What you really need is a few lifestyle tweaks. Changing what you eat you can lower your body mass index, or BMI, which is the percentage of fat on your body. The more efficient your diet the quicker you will lose weight. An efficient diet is one that only gives you what you need to eat. One way to do this is to cut out the fast food and any other garbage in your diet. These empty calories are of little value to the body, as they have no nutritional value, and in fact they do a lot of damage to the body, in the form of animal fats and cancer-causing free radicals. So what really happens is that you eat food that makes you fat, then, because your body got no value from that food, it’s still hungry-then you have to eat even more! So if you’re serious about weight loss, drop the fast food/junk food diet killer-and fast! By making this simple change in what you eat you will begin to take off the weight. The rate of weight-loss is up to your body’s metabolism and, of course, exercise will help-but this simple start is bound to leave you feeling better. The weight-loss from a diet often does not work because people eventually go back to their regular eating habits. You really need to make the decision to quit junk food-like the alcoholic that decides to quit drinking. It’s really no different. You need to focus on a making a lifestyle change and eat differently. This is especially important for those of us over thirty. As we age our metabolism slows down and and weight-loss gets much more difficult. You must break your love affair with French fries and doughnuts and ice-cream and hamburgers or the calories and fat will continue to mount. Weight-loss simply doesn’t happen like it did in your twenties so if at all possible, start early on and keep it off.

Your next step in achieving permanent weight-loss is to start looking at labels. You want to look out for high fructose corn syrup and cut it out of your diet completely. The body doesn’t now deal with this unnatural chemical well and it pretty much turns right into fat. And studies show it also causes diabetes.

Drink plenty of water. This is one of the most overlooked weight-loss causes. If you drink 10 glasses of water a day you will be flushing out excess fats and be continually keeping your body in a state of de-toxification. By drinking a glass of water before your meal it can also fill you up so that you do not eat as much once you sit down to eat.

‘If it’s white, it ain’t right!’ White bread, sugar and rice aren’t good for you, and they aren’t good for weight-loss. Empty, wasted calories devoid of nutritional benefit, they turn to fat as soon as they get digested. Try their healthier brown brothers, wheat bread, brown rice and raw sugar. Replace sweet cravings with healthy, organic fruits, but watch the pesticides if it’s not organic.

These are just a few weight loss tips that you will need to stay focused on as you work to reduce your weight. Remember, weight loss requires a commitment to a new lifestyle. You CAN do it! Weight loss can take many months (in fact, it works better that way), so work to make a positive lifestyle change and you will see progress. Look at it this way, don’t try and lose weight. Don’t try and diet. Make a commitment to a healthy lifestyle and the weight loss will naturally happen.

Lose Weight–Eat What You Have Been Told Not Too and Drop Pounds

Would you like to know a healthy weight loss solution that lets you eat some delicious fat filled foods that are supposed to be forbidden? Are you ready to wear a swimsuit and show off a new, slimmer you? A weight loss diet can be a struggle and often doesn’t help you lose weight and keep it off. In short, are you interested in eating foods that are supposed to make you overweight? You are going to learn how to reduce those nasty extra pounds by eating foods that until just recently have been thought to make people gain weight. Just by making some simple changes in the foods you eat can help burn fat and reduce weight.

Most people go from diet to diet and lose some weight with each. The problem is they gain it right back when they return to their old eating habits. Does this sound familiar? It’s hard to eat limited amounts of food and deny yourself access to the foods you really love. The foods we choose to eat help determine our weight and our health. The more natural food choices we make the better.

Most of us know the best diet for optimum health and weight is that of fresh organic fruits and vegetables, but did you know that eating certain fats can benefit you? In fact, an old fashioned natural diet that didn’t cause our ancestors to gain excess pounds was high in fat. We have been led to believe that polyunsaturated fats like vegetable oil are good for us and that saturated fats like coconut oil, whole eggs, and real butter will kill us or make us overweight. However, there appears to be some contradictory evidence to this belief–on top of the fact that most people eating a low fat diet actually gain weight. We have the highest number of obese and chubby people that this country has ever seen. Most us of fill up on simple carbohydrates and polyunsaturated fats like candy, breads, corn syrup, imitation cheeses, noodles, and foods cooked with vegetable shortening. When people of other countries begin eating the American diet, they tend to start gaining weight. What does this tell us?

The Department of Animal Science at North Carolina State University discovered that in order to please the public’s demand for leaner pork, they needed to switch their pigs’ diets from polyunsaturated vegetable oils to saturated fats. They began to feed the pigs coconut oil to reduce the animals’ body fat. If pigs can get lose weight eating saturated fats, so can we by eating a diet rich in good fats.

Our ancestors ate foods containing healthy fats, such as cows that have eaten only grass, natural dairy products, and eggs. Fats can be found in liquid form called oil or solid form called fat. Fats or lipids are contained in animal meats like lard, animals from the sea as in fish oil, and in fruits and vegetables. The saturated fats found in olive oil, coconuts, avocados, nuts, real butter, and eggs make us feel satisfied and lead to weight loss.

The fatty acid found in coconut oil is called a medium chain fatty acid which helps burn fat and increases metabolism. Just eat a teaspoon of coconut oil before each meal or cook with coconut oil to help burn away that unwanted fat. Vegetable oils contain longer chain fatty acids which are stored as fat. So, polyunsaturated fats actually lead to weight gain. Fats also are necessary for our survival and contain the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. So when fat is removed from a food product, so are many of its nutrients. What could be better for us than the natural foods put on this planet since the beginning of time?

Remember to always consult your doctor when beginning a weight loss regime. Losing weight can be a difficult feat, but eating the right foods can lead to a brighter, slimmer you. Stay away from processed, low fat foods which make you gain weight. Eating smaller portions of food and the correct foods will help you get healthy and lose weight. Get started on a new you by eating more natural saturated fats, such as butter, eggs, and nuts.

Appetite Suppressant Diet: Eat The Right Foods To Curb Your Hunger

You can arrange the way that you eat in order to get a diet that can suppress your appetite. And you do not have to find pills or potions to be able to stop your hunger. You only have to find the right time to eat the right food. That is the key to being able to suppress your appetite. All processed foods usually are low in fiber and high when it comes to refined carbohydrates. When you drink a soda and eat a donut, your blood sugar can go through the roof, causing you to be even hungrier than you were to begin with. So, when you go to that candy machine in the afternoon to grab something sweet to eat, remember that later on, it will only make you hungrier, and not stop you from being hungry.

Another thing to remember is, if you are always having nutritional deficiencies, these constant problems become worse. Most all of Americans are somehow deficient in important nutrients such as magnesium, different B vitamins, vitamin D, and zinc. Most people who have these common deficiencies have them due to eating food that is wrong to eat. The problem is that most of these people try to satisfy their hunger pains with even more bad foods, thus in turn, making it worse on them.

So what do you need to eat when on a new appetite suppressant diet? The best thing you can do is eat whole foods in order to get the calories you need. The best thing you can do is look around the grocery store on the outside of the store, instead of going to the middle aisles. Stay away from any refined carbohydrates like cereal, tortillas, sugar, corn syrup, flour, rice, and white bread for a whole month. You will then be able to see how this diet will change how and when you get hungry.

Of course, this in no way means you have to follow a strict low-carb diet. You will still be able to eat as many of the carbohydrates that can be found in most vegetables and fruit as you want. Make sure you try to eat some sort of salad that is full of leafs each day. When using salad dressing, use something that is vinegar or oils based instead of another salad dressing. Eat different meat like salmon that is grilled or chicken as your main meal for the day. When you do get hungry and want to munch on something, pickles is a great idea. The great thing about pickles is that you can eat a whole jar, and it is still only 50 calories!

Fresh fruit and vegetables can provide you with the minerals and vitamins that are great for your body.

The last thing you can do is to make sure you drink water instead of sugary drinks, or other high calorie drinks. Some people do not like to drink water, so if you are that kind of person, you can drink anything that is sugar free or even iced tea.

Anyone can eat a diet that suppresses their appetite. You just have to know the right foods to eat, and have the right amount for when you are hungry.

Train Your Fat Burning System

For our bodies, Michael Pollen says it beautifully – “Eat food, not too much, mostly plants plus moderate exercise to enjoy the 5 sense experience!” Easier said than done! So, where does one go for sensible help?

Dr. Phil Maffetone’s philosophy on nutrition and exercise has changed people’s lives including those of performance athletes and hundreds of patients. He brings an unconventional yet logical voice to solving health and fitness dysfunction in his book “In Fitness and In Health” which has become an invaluable guide to many.

There are two key distinctions that Dr. Maffetone conveys that effectively summarize his unique approach to restoring fundamental health and vitality.

To burn fat, one needs to train the body’s fat burning system so….

1) The Required Fuel

…are healthy fats! And of course complex carbs found in the rainbow of vegetables and low glycemic fruits plus high quality proteins such as wild salmon and grass fed beef for their healthy fat profiles rich in CLA and balance of the Omega 3 and 6 fats. Skip sugar, corn syrup, any flour based products and all of the ugly fats (artificial and chemically processed like hydrogenated and polyunsaturated). Olive oil is the all around oil.

To quote Dr. Maffetone, “Your aerobic system burns fat for energy and prevents excessive dependency on sugar, especially blood sugar. Your body is capable of obtaining as much as 80 to 90 percent of its energy from fat if you program your fat-burning mechanism.”

2) Work aerobic (fat burning) – not anaerobic (sugar burning)! So, how does one program the fat-burning mechanism? According to Dr. Maffetone, the optimal heart rate for aerobic training is determined by the 180-Formula – subtracting age from 180 (180-age); adjusting that by subtracting a further 5 or 10 beats per minute for recent illness or use of medications (further individualized for those over 65) or adding back 5 for active competitive athletes with no problems; then working within the 10 beat range below that number.

The final key is to monitor heart rate with a heart rate monitor – always! Staying within that range after a 20 minute warm up will retrain the aerobic system. Initially, the workload will seem very easy and eventually with consistency, the effort will have to increase substantially to stay within the range. Dr. Maffetone’s top performance athletes were eventually able to surpass their previous accomplishments in time and speed adding in the staying power from the fuel-efficient fats that carried many to new records!

Quick Tip: Eating smaller meals every two or three hours instead of three big meals evens out blood sugar levels and supports metabolism.

If you examine the contents label of most sports drinks, you’ll see that there are 16 grams of sugar in it.
