Weight Loss Goals – Secret Ingredient To Losing Weight
Posted by in Weight Loss on March 2nd, 2010
What is your weight loss goal? Are you wanting to drop a lot of weight in a short period of time? You want it off for that reunion next month? Well take it easy.
You didn’t put this weight on overnight, and it is very hard on your body, to drop it that fast. Then how do you maintain it afterwards? You will feel too weak to exercise, and a diet of rice cakes, lettuce leaves and water will start looking pretty boring a month down the road. You will slip up here and there and then you say “oh forget it” and put the weight back on.. Does this sound familiar?
Well, I had this problem too, but I am here to tell you, that you can lose the weight and achieve your weight loss goal with one big main ingredient, and it isn’t food.
PATIENCE!
Before you hit the back button, you have to realize, that in order to not only take the weight off now, but to keep it off you have to slowly change your habits. If you allow yourself the time, and are patient, it will come off.
I have had friends that have lost 20 pounds and put it all back on, in the same time that I slowly took my 26 pounds off. They fell for the latest diet fab, and dropped the weight instantly, but they were miserable, and moody, and weak, and I am sorry, but to me, why would I want to look hot in that little black dress if I feel sick doing it? What is the point in that?
My friends, laughed at me, while I ate my sandwiches with bread, and my cookies for dessert, but because I lost the weight gradually, they suddenly realized when they looked at some pictures from a year ago, that I had lost a lot of weight, and was happy, strong and healthy.
My weight loss trick, is to trick your body, and to be patient. I hate diets, have absolutely no will power, so I thought, why set myself up for failure? I decided right then and there I would do this my way, and that was the easy slow way. I took my most routine days, and looked at the foods I was eating. I decided that if I could find 250 calories in my day to get rid of, that I would lose 1 pounds in 2 weeks. One pound equals 3500 calories, so by getting rid of 250 calories a day, I would lose 1 pounds in 2 weeks. I decided to trim a bit here and there, and it was actually quite easy to find 250 calories.
Start looking at labels. I changed my mayo for mustard and saved 125 calories right there. Exchanged one soda for lemon water, and changed the cookies I like at lunch for a brand with a few less calories. Notice I didn’t cut them out, just watched the labels. I found 250 calories to cut out without even exercising. This got rid of 2 pounds a month.
I got used to this system, for a month, then decided to pick on a few other parts of my diet. Exchanged my cheddar cheese on my sandwich for low fat cheese, and saved even more calories. After a year I had lost 26 pounds, without any real effort. Just got used to some new eating habits. Still ate cookies, still ate my cereal before bed, and still at bread on my sandwiches. My friends are trying it this way now too. I feel great, so be patient with your weight loss goals, and you will get there, and enjoy being there.

Most people are unhappy with their bodies in some way, nose, ears, lips, boobs, stomach or thighs, the majority of people have at least one thing they would love to change. For most of us losing weight would be the number one change.
Life in general is now so much faster than ever before and one consequence of this is that a large percentage of the population is overweight. It is easy to see why this happens, what with the pressures of work or family life, people find it easier to eat fast food, take away food or just junk food in general as opposed to homemade food.
Yes fast food tastes good, is quick and easy and doesn’t leave you with a pile of dishes when you have finished but it also leads to weight gain and as most people that eat this type of food do so because they do not have time to prepare a meal themselves, they also do not have the time to exercise regularly. Once you get into this cycle it is hard to break free from it and so the weight piles on and we all know, when it’s on it’s hard to lose.
As much as we would like to lose weight so we feel better about ourselves, being overweight can also have serious health issues. Being overweight can increase the risk of developing, diabetes, coronary heart disease and strokes, osteoarthritis, liver disease and even certain types of cancer to name a few. So as much as you would love to lose weight so you look good in the little black dress, don’t need to squeeze into your clothes or so you look more attractive to the opposite sex, there is also a far greater reason to lose weight…your health!
You may be able to improve your health by losing as little as 10 to 20 pounds so why risk it at all. You can keep putting it off or you can act sooner rather than later. Take some time out of your busy schedule and help improve your health. You’ll feel better inside and out.
